#3 –Lynn Allan Apprenticeship Chair – Dave Edwards and Ed Dalzell have secured 4000 sq feet of bay space just for the Glazing students that will be available for the January Class.  Ed will also be bringing up close to 40000 in new equipment for students.  SAIT gave the funding for this equipment.

*We NEED to keep the flow of students going into these programs to keep the funding going, please put your new hires into class to keep the flow of money going*

Top Marks have come out from SAIT:

First year goes to Andrew Aparvary form Capilano Glass.
2.       Second Year goes to Bradley Mellott from Hayward Glass.
3.       Third year the BILL BLAKNEY award and top 3rd year award goes to Monique Rivard from Flynn Canada.
4.       Fourth Year goes to Ian Whitham from Alumatec Glass and Glazing.

The teacher that was contracted is Bob Stadnyk used to work at All West Glass.  If we can get a 4th year class we will be able to contract a full time position.

Ed Dalzell needs us to come up with drafting supplies for about 20 students.  The estimated cost is going to be about 1400 dollars.  We need these by January’s class.  The issue is put to motion and seconded, then voted and approved.

#4 – Wendy Clarahan – Special Project

The Canadian Career Fair week is coming to the Agricom in November on the 20th and 21st.  It will be open from 9-5 on Friday the 20th and 10-4 on Saturday the 21st.  We are using the PGAA & GAMA display that Flynn will bring up for us from Calgary.  On the Friday students will be bussing in and on both Friday and Saturday it is open to the general public.  Over 13000 people are estimated to walk through this event.

We need volunteers to work the booth and greet public.  Apprentices who have gone to school here in Edmonton would be especially welcome.  PGAA and GAMA may have some handouts that we can use at the station.  The cost was 600$.  If anyone can volunteer it is greatly appreciated, please contact Wendy at clarahanwl@visionwall.com

#5 – Henry Szewczyk – Guest Speaker Committee Chair

Our meeting attendance so far this year has been great and we appreciate so many coming to the meetings.  We would like to encourage employers to bring any employees they believe would benefit from attending these meetings, they are welcome.

We have currently lost one of the Guest Speaker Committee Members and we have another who is on an extended leave of absence and may not return.  It would be great if we could get 2 more volunteers to generate ideas for future meetings.  Employees of member companies should be encouraged as they may have new and fresh ideas from working in the field.  If you or someone you know can volunteer a small bit of time, please contact Henry at: hszewczyk@cascadeaqua.com

We were trying to get someone from Capital Health to do a presentation next month on general health through the cold season, dressing appropriately and preparing for a possible flu epidemic.  We were not able to find someone.  If anyone knows a doctor who may be able to do a presentation or a nurse (anyone in the health care field) please let Henry know at: hszewczyk@cascadeaqua.com

#6 – Newsletter for November – We will be coming out with another edition of the newsletter before Christmas.
