#2 – Guest Speakers Updates – United Rental has backed out of presenting at the April meeting, Sonny is looking into alternatives. 

Need to get a few sentences of information on Vivian Manasc’s presentation so notices can be sent out to members.

Sending a bi-monthly notification of meetings may be a good idea, keep members more informed.

Richard Ogle needs location details for meeting in March – we are aiming for a ½ hour to 45 min presentation max on Envelope, Perimeter Curtain wall and Skylights in relation to building envelope science.

#4 – Newsletter Committee Review –

Cost – Total was 551.25 for newsletter.  We put in a separate piece of paper advertising to recipients that we are updating our databases and to please send on their company contact info with fax numbers and email addresses to Kaylee.

Paper/color choice approved or not? – Much better, but we may go with color if we can sell some advertising space or if we go down to two a year rather than 4.

Do we want to do it 2 times a year in color rather than 4 in B/W? – 2 times a year in color seems preferable

Do we want to charge a subscription fee for hard copies and offer electronic copies for free? – Bring it up at next General Meeting.

Database – does it need to be updated? – We may want to try contacting other associations in SK, MB and NWT for company lists.

Do we want to offer members the choice of receiving an electronic copy versus a hard copy? -  Absolutely

The ultimate goal would be to build an entirely electronic database of companies in AB, SK, MB, NWT and parts of northern BC and keep them informed of our school schedule and monthly meetings.

#5 – Apprenticeship/SAIT news Lynn?

Feb 12^th the current class ends.  The tile setters have offered to do a feature wall for us and it will have the GTA logo, PGAA logo and May 2008 the year the first class was held here in Edmonton.  Kaylee needs to forward on PGAA logo and GTA logo to Lynn for artwork.

#7 – Any news on new website for GTA?  We are in need of someone from the GTA to represent us at the monthly PGAA meetings especially now that we are combining websites.  Bring up at general meeting in Feb to see if anyone would be able to attend once a month meetings and act as correspondent.

Joe Millard – Treasury Report

Almost all invoices have now been paid, second invoices for members still owing were sent out mid December.

Lynn Allan – Apprenticeship update

Bob Stadnyk has been hired as our permanent instructor here in Edmonton.  The two bays have now been open and are hosting their first class.

We are thinking of doing an open house to bring in employers, potential students, etc to see the new space and try to generate more students.  We would like to do this in 4 weeks, on a Friday.  Notification must go out – Kaylee Contact Lynn regarding this

Wendy Clarahan – Career Fair Update

The Career fair in November went very well, there were over 18000 attendees to the fair.  We had both members and apprentices volunteer which was great but we were hoping to get some more Journeymen for next year as we were confronted by Skills Canada to hold more of a hands on demonstration at their location for potential students to get a feel for the job.  If there are any volunteers who would like to be involved next year please contact Wendy at clarahanwl@visionwall.com

We were also approached by the Labour Market Newsletter about doing an article.

Bob Stadnyk will be bringing up a bunch of equipment at the end of November.  The new bays will be ready by Jan.
