TO BIM OR NOT TO BIM?....- is building information modeling the solution for all our construction woes?
Allan Partridge (who has been in private practice as an architect since 1985) is one of Canada’s leading voices and advocates on the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) having close to a decade of working with BIM enabled technologies. His portfolio of projects completed using BIM ranges from the Art Gallery of Alberta (with Randall Stout), to the Orthopedic Surgery Centre at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and more recently the Capitol Theatre at Fort Edmonton Park. He is presently working on the redevelopment of the Lodge Hotel on Jasper Avenue as the new home of the Ukrainian Canadian Museum & Archives of Alberta (UCAMA).
BIM enabled technologies are set to revolutionize our industry at all levels transforming not only what we build but importantly how we build in more integrated and predicative ways. The presentation will briefly introduce the audience to BIM, where the current wisdom sits and how these technologies are being used presently by all “shareholders” in the design and construction process.
